Dear brothers and sisters,
In
2005 Syro- Malabar Catholic Church, London, were given permission
to do pastoral care for its own people by its own priests in its
own tradition, patrimony and faith. It is a milestone in the history
of Syro-Malabar Catholic Church.
To
keep up tradition and faith is not an easy task but it is
possible with the help of God's providence. Only constant prayer
can achieve God's providence. Keeping faith and tradition is a
means to achieve peace, this was the way our parents and
fore-parents sort peace and happiness and we all experienced it.
The duty of the church is to show the way, because Church is the
mystical body of Christ.
Answering to the disciple Jesus said "I am the way, the truth
and Life. Since Church is the mystical body of Christ, Church
Knows the way, the truth and Life. therefore it is the duty of
the Church to show the way, truth and Life. TO acquire the way,
truth and life left to its followers.
St.Thomas the apostolate found the way and proclaimed "My
Lord and My God" this made him to come to Kerala to preach
Peace, happiness and love to our fore-parents. Thereby we have
grown in our own patrimony and tradition and therefore the
Catholic church wanted us to grow in our patrimony and tradition
wherever we go and move.
In London we want to live in peace, happiness and love,
therefore let us follow the path of our parents. In order to
follow the path we must practice the values of our parents in
our family; that is the domestic Church.
For example, the custom of kneeling down and praying together
in the evening in our family, and after the prayer giving the
message of peace to one another in the family by saying 'isomisihaikku
sthuthi aayirikkatte.'
This sign is the first sparkle of peace, this is the first
instance of Love and this is the first step towards respecting
the other.
Dear brothers and sisters, let us grow together respecting
and loving each other and coming together in Holy Mass to
celebrate that peace, happiness and Love, which we are sharing
in our family.
May our Blessed virgin mother help us to take up this task.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Biju John
